Silverpoint: Underdrawing

I developed much of this drawing in the studio based upon the ever critical value study and some supplemental photographs for reference.  Since this was a drawing of my "street", it was always possible to step outside to check on a detail whenever necesssary.  The final description of the overall tonality plus the added india ink contrasts were done "in situ", both to insure fidelity to the view as well as to my interpretation of it. The underdrawing plays a decisive role in the succeeding layers of egg tempera and imprimatura.
