Mixed Media: Connecticut

1980, Interstate 80, front. 12" x 18". Oil, egg tempera on panel.
The whole concept for this piece revolved around seeing both sides of the coin, so to speak. Thus the panel was prepared for painting on both sides. Landscape,
too, was already calling out to me, so I decided to try out a photorealistic rendition of some
of my favorite local highway scenes.
I purchased an airbrush in order to experiment with really smooth transitions
(you can see it's effect on the road pavement).
But I couldn't avoid breaking up the picture space, so the
back side of the panel received a less realistic treatment.
