Egg tempera underpainting for
Kruispooorte, 2009,

I see this view from the Kruispoorte bridge
every time I enter Bruges. Late afternoon/early evening
light is my absolute favorite. The egg tempera underpainting
anticipates the color and light choices that will come
in the final oil. Because I was
developing my forwards/backwards use of the mixed thechnique
during this project, I have prepared another panel for painting
this summer (2010). I am interested to try a color
layering approach en plen air. Is it possible? |
