Value study for oil.  A small village on the outskirts of Bruges gets fantastic afternoon light.  Up here the land is extremely flat and the winds come in from the sea...  A week after this study, the farmers came and mowed the foreground field, so the oil painting (which was mostly created in the studio) truly needed to come from this study, a watercolor, my memory and a few crude photographs.
