Egg Tempera:
Connecticut
Summer, 1978, Nils #
56. Egg tempera on panel after a photograph from National
Geographic Magazine September 1977. 5 1/4" x 9
1/4" ( 13.5 cm x 23.5 cm)
My love affair with egg tempera goes back to
my first experiments with it for the Nils multimedia project in
1978. This panel was first covered with a thin piece of
cloth, then gessoed, then painted. The texture of the
cloth plays a role, which for my taste, I have not repeated: I
prefer a plain wood panel.
